Hi' I am Nathalie Shek
Nathalie is a passionate, dedicated and nurturing Occupational Therapist. Nathalie passionately believes in parents being involved in all aspects of the assessment and therapy process to allow them to gain insight into the difficulties their young person is experiencing and then enabling parents to gain the knowledge and understanding to feel empowered and adaptable to support the ongoing development of their young person.
Nathalie has experience working in the public and private sector as an Occupational Therapist for the past 18 years. As well as having the experience of working within Wales, Nathalie has also had experience of working within paediatric services in other parts of the United Kingdom, as well as the privilege of working with children in Honduras for 4 months.
Nathalie’s formal education includes her Sports Psychology BSc (hons) degree through University of Glamorgan awarded in 1999, an Occupational Therapy BSc (hons) degree through Brunel University, London. Sensory Integration Modules 1-4 via Sensory Integration Network/Education achieved between 2009-2017 (including: theory, assessment, clinical observations, intervention and intervention). Nathalie has also completed the CLASI CASI post graduate pathway modules 1 to 6 including use of the EASI (Evaluation in Ayres Sensory Integration) and is a certified Safe and Sount Protocol provider.
Nathalie has worked with children, young people and their families with neurodevelopmental disorders, autism, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, foetal alcohol spectrum disorder, developmental trauma, Tourette’s, developmental coordination disorder, developmental delay, rare genetic disorders, coexisting diagnosis, multiple learning disabilities, cerebral palsy, physical disabilities, muscular dystrophy, and downs syndrome. Her experience includes working in a diagnostic service for neurodevelopmental teams for 6 years, which included being part of a pilot clinical diagnostic forum for foetal alcohol spectrum disorder. Nathalie is currently working towards SAI Level 1 status.
