From the moment I made contact I was filled with confidence I had made the right choice. I had previously chose therapists nearer to home as I thought being further afield would be an issue but it wasn’t, not one bit. The whole team was very supportive and attentive and I felt they truly had the best interest of the young person (and myself) at heart.
We saw Nia for OT, who was amazing! She supported, noticed more and put things into place more in the time we saw her than in the previous 19 years. I can’t thank her enough she made a real difference. She was so switched on to the needs of the young person, she knew where to stop and where to push for a bit extra. She has a wonderful way about her and there is no messing, if she says she will do something or if something is needed she is on it.
We also saw Nicola for SLT who was fantastic and again worked on difficulties never considered previously. She also had a great way about her but I also appreciated her willingness to listen to feedback from us and work with it, when necessary. She came with reems of resources and lots of useful strategies.
From the moment I first made contact with Bryher it felt like a big hug from family. I have never been so supported as a parent/carer in our almost 20 year journey. I am so grateful. We reluctantly had to say goodbye as the college placement changed. But I am in no doubt I can and will contact them in the future.
