Bryher Hill

Hi' I am Bryher Hill

Bryher is a caring, nurturing and engaging Occupational Therapist who believes in the importance of validation and advocacy for children, young people and their families. Bryher has experience of working in public and private sectors, with several years spent with the NHS and Social Services prior to moving into independent practice. Bryher is the owner of Helping Kids Shine Limited which is a therapy business based in Bridgend in South Wales, with a national reach across the United Kingdom.

Bryher has worked with children, young people and their families since being a teenager, participating in play schemes prior to attending Cardiff University. Bryher has been honoured to experience working with children not only in the United Kingdom, but also in Belarus and Croatia. Bryher has lived in Wales since 2003 and with the rise of Covid-19 Pandemic in 2020, developed Occupational Therapy services that could be provided online for families across the UK. Helping Kids Shine now provide Occupational Therapy services both in person and virtually where required.

Bryher very much values the importance of a thorough Occupational Therapy assessment prior to recommending any treatment or intervention. This links with her post graduate training in Ayres Sensory Integration (ICEASI Level 2) as it is vital to fully understand a young person’s strengths and challenges and the underlying skills that are impacting these, so that targeted intervention and support can be recommended.

Bryher currently completes assessments that either provide advice and guidance to caregivers and schools, or may be utilised as part of the educational needs assessment process, both in Wales and in England. Her reports are highly rated by Advocates and Solicitors and have been commended by SEN Tribunals. Bryher also works alongside Case Managers as treating therapist for some children, particularly working with specialist equipment, adaptations, and moving and handling. Helping Kids Shine have been offered contracts with several Local Authorities to provide ongoing Occupational Therapy support to their school children.

Bryher is a registered Occupational Therapist with the Health and Care Professions Council and is a member of the Royal College of Occupational Therapists, including the Specialist Sections for Children, Young People and Families, and Independent Practice. Bryher is also a member of the Sensory Integration Network and the National Handwriting Association.

Bryher ensures that she engages in Continuing Professional Development and meet all standards laid down by the Health and Care Professions Council.

Bryher’s formal education includes her BSc (Hons) Occupational Therapy through Cardiff University awarded in 2006, a PGc in Mentoring through Manchester Metropolitan University awarded in 2009, and Sensory Integration 1 and 2 (Theory and Intervention, and Advanced Clinical Reasoning and Analysis) achieved between 2007 and 2009.

Bryher has also completed the CLASI CASI Certificate in Ayres Sensory Integration following the CLASI modular training pathway – Modules 1-6 completed with SIPT training, and 2-4 with EASI training. Equivalence to ICEASI Level 2.
