Hi' I am Nia Roberts

Nia is a nurturing and engaging Occupational Therapist who believes in the importance of validation and advocacy for children, young people and their families.

Nia has experience of working in public and private sectors, with several years spent with the NHS and Social Services prior to moving into private practice. Nia has experience of working with special education schools across South Wales. She has worked as an onsite Occupational Therapist in a school and children’s care home that specialised in working with children aged between 3-19 with a range of physical, sensory and additional complex needs. Nia works for Helping Kids Shine Limited which is a therapy business based in Bridgend in South Wales, with a national reach across the United Kingdom.

Nia has worked within the areas of trauma and orthopaedics, acute medicine, surgery, in-patient rehabilitation, acute stroke and intensive care, palliative care, reablement, neuro-rehab and paediatrics. Nia’s most recent roles have been within neuro-rehabilitation and paediatrics, working as part of multidisciplinary teams and specialising in providing occupational therapy to children and young people with complex needs and physical impairments.

Nia’s main duties have been supporting children and young people to maximise their independence and to reach their functional goals, as well as assisting with postural management, providing detailed treatment plans, supporting sensory differences, carrying out upper limb treatment, and assessing for and providing specialist equipment.

Nia is a registered Occupational Therapist with the Health and Care Professions Council and is a member of the Royal College of Occupational Therapists, including the Specialist Section for Children, Young People and Families.

Nia ensures that she engages in Continuing Professional Development and meets all standards laid down by the Health and Care Professions Council.

Nia’s formal education includes her BSc (Hons) Occupational Therapy through Cardiff University awarded in 2013 and her Sensory Integration 1 (Foundations and Neuroscience) achieved in 2021.

Nia is currently studying British Sign Language.
