Hi' I am Nicola Ryan
Nicola is a holistic, creative, proactive, and empathic therapist. She is passionate about supporting children, young people and families with managing complex communication needs and helping them to reach their potential. Integrity, maintaining a positive attitude, high levels of motivation, building trust and rapport, and achieving positive outcomes are all important to Nicola. Professional networking, promoting equality, diversity, positive working relationships and multidisciplinary team working are key fundamentals to Nicola’s role.
Nicola has worked with children, young people and their families since graduating as a Speech and Language Therapist, and has experience of working in public and private sectors. Nicola now works part time with Helping Kids Shine Limited, and is helping to build the Speech and Language Therapy element of service provision, whilst also retaining a role within the NHS. Helping Kids Shine Limited is a therapy business based in Bridgend in South Wales, with a national reach across the United Kingdom.
Nicola currently completes assessments and treatment for children and young people with speech, language and communication needs. Nicola also works alongside Case Managers as treating therapist for some children, particularly working with complex communication needs and the use of Electronic Assistive Technology and Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC).
Nicola is a registered Speech and Language Therapist with the Health and Care Professions Council and is a member of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists.
Nicola ensures that she engages in Continuing Professional Development and meet all standards laid down by the Health and Care Professions Council.
Nicola’s formal education includes her BSc (Hons) Speech and Language Therapy through Birmingham City University awarded in 2004.
Nicola is able to offer supervision to other Speech and Language Therapists.
