What is Speech and Language Therapy?

Speech and Language Therapy provides treatment, support and care for children and adults who have difficulties with communication, or with eating, drinking and swallowing.

Speech and Language Therapists (often referred to as SLT or SALT) are allied health professionals and must be registered with the Health and Care Professions Council. They work with parents, carers and other professionals, such as Teachers, Nurses, Occupational Therapists and Doctors.

At Helping Kids Shine, Speech and Language Therapists support children with social interaction differences, structural difficulties affecting speech and swallowing, dysfluency, language delay and disorders, selective/situational mutism, specific difficulties in producing sounds/speech disorders, stammering, and voice disorders.
