Hi' I am Kathryn Drave
Kathryn is a Specialist Speech and Language Therapist with extensive experience working with children and young people with complex communication needs including those who are autistic, have ADHD or other neurodevelopmental differences.
Kathryn’s practice is grounded in neurodiversity- affirming principles and she takes a strengths-based client centred approach to supporting each child’s communication journey. Kathryn works collaboratively with families, schools and multidisciplinary teams to create tailored interventions that respect each individual’s identity and needs.
Kathryn has a particular interest in AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) and is passionate about using AAC to support children and young people in developing meaningful, autonomous communication. Kathryn also has considerable experience in working with children with speech sound difficulties using a range of evidence-based approaches to ensure therapy is both effective and engaging.
Kathryn has worked with children, young people and their families since graduating as a Speech and Language Therapist and has previously worked in the public sector. Kathryn now works part time with Helping Kids Shine Limited. Helping Kids Shine Limited is a therapy business based in Bridgend in South Wales, with a national reach across the United Kingdom.
Kathryn currently completes assessments and treatment for children and young people with speech, language and communication needs.
Kathryn is a registered Speech and Language Therapist with the Health and Care Professions Council and is a member of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists.
Kathryn ensures that she engages in Continuing Professional Development and meet all standards laid down by the Health and Care Professions Council.
Kathryn’s formal education includes her BSc (Hons) Speech and Language Therapy through Cardiff Metropolitan University awarded in 2010.
